At the beginning of the game, each player
receives 2 cards known as the "pocket cards" (these are the cards that
only the player can see.
Then, each player, in turn, can bet if he
thinks his hand is strong enough, or if he wants to make the others
believe so.
Once the round of bets is completed,
the dealer draws 3 cards from the top of the deck and puts them on the table. This is the
"flop". These cards are also known as "open" because
everyone can use them to form the best possible combination.
At the end of the second round, the third round
starts and the players, one after another, can bet again. After
this third betting round, the dealer distributes a fourth card (the
"turn"), then a 5th and last one (the
"river"). After each of these rounds,
the players can bet.
Who wins?
The winner is the one who has the best
combination after the river. A player can also win if he remains alone
at the end of the game. In fact, each time a player bets, the
opponents can follow him, or just fold if they think their hand is
too weak. If a player wins with a very weak hand, causing the other players to fold,
it means he "bluffed".
